To send and receive SMS via email, each text enabled phone number requires an email address to associate with the respective phone number. Upon text messaging activation, the Accent Support representative will ask you for an email address to associate with specific phone numbers.
It is possible to associate more than one email address with a single phone number. This is useful when it is necessary for more than one person to send and receive text messages via a particular phone number.
To compose a new text message, open your email client and generate a new email. In the "To" field of the email you will place the text recipient's phone number followed by @sms.accentvoice.one.
For example, to send a text message to (740) 555-1234 the destination address in the email would be 7405551234@sms.accentvoice.one.
In the body of the email, compose your text message to be sent. Once your message has been composed, place the termination code of "###" after the message text. This termination code will ensure anything after the ### is not sent in the text reply. A sample message would be structured as follows:
Could you please give me a call when you are available?###
The text message recipient will be delivered the following:
Could you please give me a call when you are available?
In a situation where an email address is associated with more than one text enabled phone number you must designate which number you want to originate a text message from. This is done through the following syntax: origination_number-destination_number@sms.accentvoice.one
For example, to send a text message to (740) 555-1234 from (614) 555-5678 the destination address in the email would be 6145555678-7405551234@sms.accentvoice.one.
Please note this is only required if an email address is associated with more than one text enabled phone number.
When a text message is sent to your business phone number it will be delivered to the number's designated email address and arrive in the following format:
You can reply to a text message just like replying to any email address. Simply choose the reply option within your email and place your text message reply in the body of the email.
Once your reply message has been composed, place a termination code of "###" after the reply text. This termination code will ensure anything after the ### is not sent in the text reply. A sample reply message would be structured as follows:
Sure thing, I'll stop by in a second###
The text message recipient will be delivered the following:
Sure thing, I'll stop by in a second
The exchange would appear as follows to the other participant.
